Mask on, mask off
It's funny how everyone around me manages to keep things to themselves and never express because hey, they don't want you to judge them on what their "real" self would be like. Keep in mind: I'm not denying the fact that we don't have different sides to our personalities and would definitely not want others to know what our sides are.
Why am I oppressing something that is natural to a lot of people? Well, I always lived in an environment where secrets never existed, that's super obvious when you're around people you grew up with. Having migrated to another place five months ago, I see a different side of the world- different perspectives. It doesn't serve me any good. It's like a meek cat being introduced to a pack of lions- it's the same family, yet very different in features and behavior.
In the past five months, I've seen people having low self esteem- those who want to change themselves to probably be in the good books of their peers. On the other hand, I've also seen people who look like they don't give a crap about anything; but reality says that they're frail.
Of course, no one can be the ideal human being. But even if we walk on the path of "trying", what would be in our to-do list? Put on the face mask so people see the good side of yours? Or just go on with being who you are, good or bad?
Personally, I prefer putting on the great mask; as I call it. There's no hard and fast rule of being my true self to whoever I come across. I may have the mask on most times, but I also have the option of taking it off, in specific cases.
I realized- you probably need to chose both roads. It varies from situation to situation. Everything depends on how you change roads according to the situations.
I wish myself a happy choice.
